Specimen Collection Details
Collection:
Two 5 mL red top tubes. Also acceptable: Plasma (any type) or urine. Collect urine in a sterile container. Do NOT use serum separator tube (SST) or plasma separator tube (PST).
Handling:
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability:
7 days ambient, 10 days refrigerated, or 30 days frozen.
Standard Volume:
4 mL serum, plasma, or urine.
Minimum Volume:
1 mL serum, plasma, or urine.
Transport:
Refrigerated.
Comments:
Confirmation testing is automatically performed on all positive screens at no charge.
Rejection Criteria:
Use of SST or PST.
