Oregon Medical Laboratories’ Portland Lab Recieves Accreditation from College of American Pathologists FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 23, 2007 West Linn, Ore. – Oregon Medical Laboratories’ Portland Lab has been awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. Denis McCarthy, MD, the laboratory’s Medical Director, was recently advised by CAP and congratulated for the “excellence of the services being provided.” “We are thrilled to receive this acknowledgement of the quality of services we provide to physicians in the Greater Portland community,” said Dr. McCarthy, a board-certified pathologist with a subspecialty in cytopathology. “Physicians regularly note rapid turn-around-times for critical tests as their top priority in lab testing. The Portland Lab allows OML to make this vital service available locally.” OML operates five laboratories in Oregon, all separately accredited by CAP. The Portland Lab, located at 2008 Willamette Falls Drive in West Linn, Ore., opened in February 2006. OML has been actively serving Portland area physicians from its Eugene/Springfield laboratory since 2002. Additionally, OML provides drug-testing services for large employers and occupational medicine programs in the Greater Portland market and throughout the Oregon. During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control as well as staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety and overall management. The stringent inspection is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s patients About Oregon Medical Laboratories OML has 450 employees and has been recognized by Oregon Business magazine as one of the best places to work in Oregon for the last three consecutive years (March 2004, March 2005, March 2006).
