Point-of-Care Testing
Point-of-care testing devices popularized by parole and probation programs may appear to be a screening alternative when a quick answer is needed. However, we do not recommend relying on such devices for workplace-employment testing. Although device technology has improved, such programs do not offer the defensibility and safe guards provided by a licensed laboratory testing program. Unsuspecting substances can cause false positives that, if not confirmed, could deny an individual employment.
