On October 1, 2015, the ICD-9 code sets used to report medical diagnoses and inpatient procedures will be replaced by ICD-10 code sets. This transition to ICD-10 is required for all organizations covered by HIPAA.

To protect specimens from extreme heat, always place refrigerated collections directly on ice packs. Ambient specimens should be put toward the top of the box. It is necessary to place a divider (or newspaper) between ice packs and the ambient specimens.
