Clinical Toxicology

Clinical Toxicology Services

Our toxicology offerings include drug screen and toxicology tests for use in clinical settings where accidental or intentional overdose of medications, illicit drugs or toxins is involved. The service includes screening procedures for a wide variety of drugs and drug classes, and for specific quantitative analyses of individual drugs or toxins (for example, ethylene glycol).

These tests use chromatographic, immunoassay, mass spectral analysis and other methods to detect a broad spectrum of analgesics, stimulants, sedatives, hypnotics, narcotics, antidepressants and other substances. Detection limits for most drugs are set at or above the therapeutic level. Substances not included in the standard clinical toxicology screen tests may be ordered separately; examples include LSD, solvent hydrocarbons, lithium, volatile alcohols other than ethanol, cyanide, corrosives, metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, etc.), carbon monoxide, herbicides, insecticides, GHB, antibiotics, and plant and animal toxins.

These clinical testing services are not intended for legal, employment or forensic purposes; chain of custody procedures are not used. For certain clinical or chemical-dependency treatment patients confirmation testing may not be indicated or routinely performed. Please call Drug Testing Client Services to make arrangements for such testing.
