Oregon Medical Laboratories Names Dr. Robert Liao as Director of Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics

Springfield, Ore. – Oregon Medical Laboratories (OML), a service of PeaceHealth, is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Liao, PhD, D(ABMM), as director of microbiology and molecular diagnostics.
Dr. Liao previously served as a clinical microbiologist at Kingston General Hospital (KGH) in Kingston, Ontario and has also been an associate professor with the department of pathology and molecular medicine at Queen”s University. At KGH he also worked closely with Infection Prevention and Control Services providing consultation and developing rapid screening and detection tests to limit nosocomial infections. Dr. Liao holds a doctorate from the University of Alberta in Microbiology and Immunology and received his Medical Microbiology training at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis. He is board-certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology and has numerous publications in the field.
Dr. Liao is also accomplished in the area of molecular diagnostic testing and test development. He brings a high standard for excellence and his expertise and experience in laboratory medicine to help meet the needs of patients who rely on the organization’s growing testing capabilities.
