System-to-System IT Options

System-to-System IT Options

Multiple connectivity options are available through PeaceHealth Laboratories, and we also can work with clients that have implemented an in-house Laboratory Information System (LIS) to develop a system-to-system interface. To use this type of interface, clients must be able to generate lab orders in their LIS and receive results back from PeaceHealth Laboratories. The system-to-system connection is made over the Internet using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Hospitals that contract with us for laboratory testing can choose among the many connectivity options we currently offer for placing laboratory orders with and receiving results from PeaceHealth Laboratories. Those options include:

Paper Requisitions / Paper Results

Clients use paper requisitions to place orders and results are printed at PeaceHealth Laboratories and delivered to the clients either by mail, courier or other means.

Paper Requisitions/Faxed Results
Clients use paper requisitions to place orders and receive results via fax.

Paper Requisitions/AutoDial Printer
Paper requisitions are used to place orders and results are printed at the client’s—in most cases using a modem and jet-direct device.

Paper Requisitions/OMLnet Results
Clients place orders using paper requisitions yet receive and view results via the Internet, using the OMLnet. Results can also be printed at the client site.

OMLnet Orders/OMLnet Results/No Demographic Interface/No Results Interface
OMLnet is used to place orders. Results are available via the Internet through OMLnet and can also be printed at the client site. In this option, infrequently used, the client retains responsibility for manually updating the patient demographic information in OMLnet.

OMLnet Orders/OMLnet Results/Demographic Interface/No Results Interface
Clients use OMLnet to place orders. Results are available via the Internet through OMLnet and can also be printed at the client site. PeaceHealth Laboratories installs a demographic interface between the client practice management system (PMS) and OMLnet.

OMLnet Orders/OMLnet Results/Demographic Interface/Results Interface
Clients use OMLnet to place orders and the results are available via the Internet, through OMLnet, and can also be printed at the client site. PeaceHealth Laboratories installs a demographic interface between the client PMS (Practice Management System) and OMLnet. We also work with the client to develop and implement a results interface from OMLnet to the client EMR/LIS.

Direct System-to-System Interface
In this option, we work with client to develop an orders and results interface directly between PeaceHealth Laboratories and the client’s EMR/LIS.
