Collection: |
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). |
Handling: |
Allow to clot completely at ambient temperature. Separate serum from cells immediately. |

7 days ambient. Unstable refrigerated or frozen. |
Standard Volume: |
1 mL serum. |
Minimum Volume: |
0.6 mL serum. |
Transport: |
Ambient. |
Comments: |
Do not freeze or refrigerate. Hemolyzed specimens and serum which have not been separated from cells show elevated LD-1 and LD-2. LD-4 and LD-5 are labile at low temperatures and are erroneously low in samples that have been frozen. |
Rejection Criteria: |
Frozen, refrigerated or hemolyzed specimen; specimen collected with EDTA or potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride anticoagulants. |
