Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 5 mL red top tube. Do not use a serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL green top tube (heparin) or one 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA). Do not use a plasma separator tube (PST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and immediately separate serum or plasma from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability: Specimen stable 14 days at ambient temperature, 14 days refrigerated, or 7 months frozen.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 0.7 mL serum or plasma.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Serum separator tube (SST) or plasma separator tube (PST).

No therapeutic or toxic range has been established. Risperidone and the 9-hydroxyrisperidone metabolite are equally active and the total drug concentration is important. At doses of 2-16 mg/d, steady-state values of 10-120 ng/mL of total drug were seen.
