Handling: |
Urine, urethral or cervical swab, semen, biopsy tissue, CSF, tracheal or nasopharyngeal aspirate in MicroTest (M4)(blue top) or Mycoplasma/ureaplasma transport medium. Use a sterile plastic container for tissue or fluid if MicroTest (M4)(blue top) or Mycoplasma/ureaplasma transport medium is unavailable. Freeze specimen at -70° C. Indicate specimen source on requisition. |

8 hours ambient, 48 hours refrigerated in Microtest (M4) (blue top) medium, or 1 month frozen at -70° C. |

Frozen on dry ice. |

This culture will recover both Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum, if present. |
