Collection: |
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4.5 mL light green plasma separator tube (PST), 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), 4.5 mL light blue top tube, or 4 mL green top tube (heparin). |
Handling: |
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells immediately and pour into a plastic vial. Freeze. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Submit specimens according to Infectious Subtances Shipping Guidelines. |
Stability: |
7 days ambient (not preferred), 7 days refrigerated, or indefinitely if frozen. |
Standard Volume: |
1 mL serum or plasma. |
Minimum Volume: |
0.5 mL serum or plasma. |
