Specimen Collection Details |
Collection: |
2 specimens: 1) CULTURE: 5-10 mL body fluid in a BacT/Alert FA (aerobic) bottle AND a FN (anaerobic) bottle using aseptic technique. Bottles must be at ambient temperature. Inspect broth and sensor. Do not use if broth is cloudy or sensor is yellow. 2) GRAM STAIN: Submit specimen in sterile container. Accepted but not recommended: One sterile 4 mL green top tube (heparin). Do not refrigerate or freeze. |

Specimen 1) BacT/Alert FA & FN bottles: 10 mL fluid each. Specimen 2) 2 mL fluid. |
