One 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA). Also acceptable: Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), throat swab, urine, biopsy tissue, lung tissue, or colon biopsy. Source of specimen required. |
Handling: |
Keep as whole blood. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) or urine in a sterile, leak-proof container. Biopsy tissue, lung tissue, colon biopsy or throat swab in viral transport media (M4). |
Stability: |
2 hours ambient or 72 hours refrigerated. Specimen unstable frozen. |
Standard Volume: |
4 mL EDTA blood. |
