Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Two 5 mL red top tubes. Patient must be fasting 12-14 hours, and must not consume alcohol for 24 hours prior to collection.
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Freeze. Indicate patient’s age and sex.
Standard Volume: 5 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 2 mL serum.
Transport: Frozen, on dry ice.
Rejection Criteria: Refrigerated specimen.
