Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA) or one 4 mL green top tube (heparin).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge, separate serum or plasma from cells within 1 hour, and pour into a plastic vial. Freeze. Critical frozen.
Stability: 6 months frozen. Specimen unstable ambient or refrigerated.
Standard Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 250 µL serum or plasma.
Transport: Frozen on dry ice.
Rejection Criteria: Ambient or refrigerated specimen.
