Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Suspected parasitic worm in a screw cap container. Submit proglittids in saline and other parasites in 70% alcohol. Specify specimen source on test requisition and specimen container. Do not send stool.
Stability: Ambient acceptable; refrigerated preferred; frozen unacceptable.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Parasite identification serves as an aid in identifying suspected parasitic worms (nematide or cestode) from stool.
