Specimen Collection Details |
Collection: |
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL green top tube (heparin). Specimen should be collected between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. |
Handling: |
Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells and immediately pour into a plastic vial. Refrigerate. |
Stability: |
24 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 6 months frozen. |
Standard Volume: |
1 mL serum or plasma. |
Minimum Volume: |
0.4 mL serum or plasma. |
Transport: |
Refrigerated. |
Comments: |
This test is suggested for women and children due to an improved sensitivity of testosterone by LC-MS/MS. Testosterone Free, Females and Children by tandem mass spectrometry, only provides a result for the free testosterone value (pg/mL). |
Rejection Criteria: |
EDTA plasma. |
|
Female Free Testosterone |
|
Male Free Testosterone |
