Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 5 mL red top tube. Do not use serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 6 mL yellow top tube (ACD), one 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), or one 4 mL green top tube (heparin).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability: 5 days ambient, 30 days refrigerated, or 12 months frozen.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 1 mL serum or plasma.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker.
Rejection Criteria: Use of SST.
