Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Lymph node: Submit as much tissue as possible.
Peripheral blood: One 5 mL lavender top tube (EDTA).
Bone marrow: 1-3 mL bone marrow in a 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA).
Handling: Lymph node: Transfer to ambient RPMI media and keep ambient. Submit to lab within 6 hours of collection, or if delayed, mince tissue with scissors to liberate cells into medium. If RPMI or other tissue medium is not available, sterile saline may be used. Do not allow tissue to dry.
Peripheral blood: Keep ambient and submit within 24 hours.
Bone marrow: Mix bone marrow with an equal volume of RPMI medium, if available. submit to lab within 24 hours.
With all specimens, include relevant history with specimen. This test is available for cases where a single cell marker evaluation is requested. Please note the cell marker (CD antigen) to be tested.
Standard Volume: As much lymph node as possible, 4 mL EDTA whole blood, or 3 mL bone marrow.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 x 0.5 cm lymph node, 2 mL whole blood, or 1 mL bone marrow.
Transport: Ambient.
Rejection Criteria: Poor cell viability; insufficient cells for analysis.
