Collection: |
5 mL cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in a sterile vial AND one 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST) or 7.5 mL red top tube. Both CSF and serum are required for this test and must be submitted together. |
Handling: |
Centrifuge and separate serum from cells immediately. Refrigerate both specimens. Do not freeze. |
Standard Volume: |
5 mL CSF AND 1 mL serum. |
Minimum Volume: |
0.3 mL CSF AND 0.3 mL serum. |
Transport: |
Refrigerated. |
Rejection Criteria: |
Panel cannot be run if no serum is submitted. Plasma is not acceptable. |
