Collection: |
One 5 mL red top tube. Also acceptable: 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), 2 mL grey top tube (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride) or 4 mL green top tube (heparin). Avoid use of serum separator tube (SST) and gel barrier tube. |
Handling: |
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum and plasma from cells into a plastic vial. Refrigerate. If gel separator is used, separate serum or plasma from gel within 2 hours of collection. Do not refrigerate on gel separator. |
Stability: |
5 days ambient, 14 days refrigerated, or 6 months frozen. |

2 mL serum or plasma. |
