Specimen Collection Details |
Collection: |
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube. Specimen should be collected before such prostatic manipulations as DRE, prostatic massage, TRUS, or prostatic biopsy. |
Handling: |
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells within 3 hours. Refrigerate at 2-8o C. Freeze at -20o C or colder if specimen cannot be assayed within 48 hours. Keep frozen. |

48 hours refrigerated or 5 months frozen at -20o C. |
