Reference Range:
<1.0 AI (Antibody Index: Relative Fluorescent Intensity) Sm (Smith) Antibody is specific for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) but only occurs in 30-35% of cases, these are often associated with renal disease. RNP (Ribonucleic Protein) Antibody is seen in 95-100% of mixed connective tissue disease and is considered specific for this syndrome if other antibodies are negative; RNP is also present in 20-30% of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and 15-20% of progressive system sclerosis.
